Unwanted VAs the sun began to set outside Shima’s prison she gazed forlornly out through the iron grating, watching the last of the golden light fade from the forest floor. Hours earlier she had been imprisoned here by the Makai Dor and his assistants but it already seemed like weeks. Averting her eyes from the gate, she dipped her chin instead to study the face of the sleeping infant in her arms. At least one of them was managing to rest.
